Pegasus Youth Blue U14 v Ruddington Village Colts U14
This “not to be lost” match started with Ruddington pushing strongly into the Pegasus half, harrying the Pegasus defence, and it looked like it could be a long afternoon. However, within 10 minutes a run by Jack Winfield, passing to Daniel Gillard, offered a chance which was neatly taken by Cellan Brady and Pegasus went ahead 1-0.
Ruddington continued their strong push but Pegasus had a number of chances with Jack Winfield, Daniel Gillard and Adam Rice all having shots on goal which were either saved or narrowly missed. Unfortunately a bit of a mix up at the back then allowed the visitors to score what was probably an inevitable equaliser. Play carried on with both sides creating chances which didn’t result in goals. In the last minutes of the first half Ruddington were awarded a free kick, the shot was saved by Jack Bales but a Ruddington player nipped in and scored from the rebound and Pegasus went in for half time with the score 2-1 to the visitors.

Pegasus just couldn’t seem to get going at the start of the second half and there were some surprising line decisions and a bit of pushing and pulling going on. Despite this, they created a number of chances but again just couldn’t get that ball in the net. Time was rapidly running out when Pegasus were awarded a free kick which the Ruddington keeper just managed to tip over the bar. Another great chance came from a corner, well placed by Adam Rice but headed just over the bar by Lewis Lloyd-Jones. A further corner in the dying minutes of the game finally let Sean Gordon, who had played a blinder in defence, head the ball into the net and the resulting cheer from the Pegasus supporters must have been heard around Stapleford. The final whistle blew with the score at 2-2 and Pegasus had gained that all important point.
