Radcliffe Olympic (under 14) v Pegasus Blue (under 14) – 30/10/10
It took Pegasus only 40 seconds to open the scoring in the one sided affair, a long ball flicked on by Price, Cellan Brady then raced clear to fire home. On 6 minutes Peggo doubled their lead, Hopcroft blocked a clearance, then chipped a ball through to Brady , who fired hard and low into the corner. On 8 minutes Olympic had their first shot, which was well saved by Jack Bales. On 16 minutes Gillard blazed over, 4 minutes later Radcliffe, against the run of play, pulled one back - as the Pegasus keeper cleared from his hands, the whistle blew for handball outside of the 18 yard box, the resulting free kick was curled into the top corner. A minute later Olympic thought they had equalised, but it was ruled out for offside. Pegasus composed themselves and on 24 minutes extended their lead to 3 – 1, a long cross field ball found Adam Rice, who hit a thunderbolt shot into the roof of the net. 2 minutes later 4 – 1, Dunn passed to Cerutti, he threaded a ball through to Rice who lashed the ball past the helpless keeper. On 28 minutes Peggo extended their lead to 5 – 1, a long clearance out of his hands by Bales, flicked on by Price, for Rice running through like an express train, to finish emphatically to complete a superb 4 minute hat trick. Pegasus continued to press forward, but failed to add to their tally.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first, with Billy Warburton firing over from a Rice corner. On 38 minutes a Price shot was spilled by the keeper, but with the goal at his mercy, Gillard scuffed his shot wide. On 46 minutes the same player had a good left foot drive well saved. On 49 minutes the pressure paid off, Warburton collected the ball , passing it through the defence, Rice pounced again for his 4th and Pegasus’s 7th. On 59 minutes it was 7 – 1, with the ball bouncing around on the edge of the box, it was finally smashed into the top left hand corner by Brett Sable, giving the keeper no chance. On 60 and 61 minutes Gillard had shots well saved and a minute later Warburton rattled the bar. On 65 minutes the home side had their only real chance of the second half , which was well saved by Bales. On 67 and 69 minutes that man Rice scored his 5th and 6th goal of the game, thumping the ball into the goal to complete the scoring for a comfortable victory.
