Pegasus Blue U14 v Radcliffe Olympic U14
Saturday 5th March 2011

On a cold and drizzly afternoon at Pasture Road, Pegasus played their second game of the season against Radcliffe. After the traditional slow start, Pegasus opened the scoring in the 8th minute when Adam Rice ran through to slot the ball home. Two minutes later Daniel Gillard had a shot on goal which went wide. It was left to Lewis Lloyd-Jones to increase the score to 2-0 in the 14th minute from a throw in, which Lewis powered home from close range in the box. On 20 minutes Billy Warburton played a beautiful cross from the right but unfortunately none of his team mates were in place to take the chance. Two minutes later, however, a cool-headed Adam Rice special saw the score increase to 3-0. The visitors had a good chance in the 24th minute, following a bit of a muddle in the Pegasus defence, but the ball went wide and the resultant corner was well cleared by Sean Gordon.

After the break and within 5 minutes Lewis Lloyd-Jones had another shot on goal but the Radcliffe keeper made a spectacular save to deny him. This seemed to spur Radcliffe on to the attack but some strong defensive play from Pegasus foiled them. On 47 minutes a fantastic run down the left by James Cerutti ended in a pass to Adam Rice and a classic goal, raising the score to 4-0. Tom Hopcroft made a valiant attempt on goal which went wide before Stuart Skill had a shot on target, which was saved by the keeper. On 59 minutes Adam Rice shot from the right but went wide and 2 minutes later a shot from James Cerutti, following a run down the wing, also went wide. However, the fifth goal for Pegasus arrived only a minute later, slotted in past the keeper by Adam Rice again. Pegasus had several more chances during the remainder of the game, achieving a result when a free kick from Aaron Price was picked up by Daniel Gillard who shot for goal and brought the score to a satisfying 6-0. The full time whistle came as a great relief to the extremely wet spectators!
