Pegasus Blue (under 14) v Keyworth United (under 14)

After two consecutive defeats Pegasus needed to get back to winning ways, and they duly did, comfortably winning and at times playing some great football. Adam Rice, last season’s top scorer, returned from injury for his first match of the season, starting off on the bench. Pegasus got off to a flying start with Price in the 1st minute, and Warburton 2 minutes later, both going close. On 4 minutes a Keyworth defender almost put through his own goal, but the keeper saved well. He had only delayed the inevitable, 2 minutes later Pegasus were ahead, a good move and cross by Brady lashed into the goal from 15 yards by Aaron Price. On 12 minutes Adam Rice entered the match - in less than a minute he had latched onto a Lloyd-Jones long ball, one touch took him past the defender and his second lashed the ball into the goal to make the score 2 – 0. The one way traffic continued, on 19 minutes Rice raced clear again but scuffed his shot, on 23 minutes Price and Rice combined well only for Price to blaze over and 2 minutes later a great passing move between Warburton and Gillard finished with Warburton firing just over. On 32 minutes the score was 3 – 0, Rice was slotted through again, his shot was well saved , the ball was played back to Danny Gillard who thumped it into the goal.

Half time: Pegasus blue 3 –Keyworth United 0

The second half started very quietly with no chances until the 50th minute. Danny Gillard danced down the right crossing for Warburton whose shot was well saved. 3 minutes later a Rice cross found James Cerutti at the far post, but he sliced wide. On 54 minutes a Price cross was drilled wide by Ben Wright and on 55 minutes the visitors had their first chance of the match and really should have scored, the striker beat the offside trap and lifted the ball over the keeper but wide. A minute later the score was 4 – 0, Rice getting his second of the match, picking the ball up 40 yards out, dribbling around several defenders before smashing the ball into the goal. On 58 minutes United had their second chance but fired wide when he should have done better, 3 minutes later Warburton picked the ball up on the half way line and went on a mazy run before shooting wide. 3 minutes from time Aaron Price completed the scoring with a fine effort collecting the ball 25 yards out and without hesitation hitting a curling dipping shot into the top corner

Final whistle: Pegasus Blue 5 – Keyworth United 0

MOM – Danny Gillard – Old fashioned wing trickery
