Burton Joyce U14 v Pegasus Youth Blue U14
It was an unseasonably warm day for the return match with Burton Joyce and spectators were out in force. Pegasus got off to the traditional slow start and, although play moved up and down the pitch and several shots were tried, it was half way through the first half before play really got going. A lovely cross from the wing by Adam Rice was fired into the net by Jack Winfield on the volley to open the scoring. Play continued with both teams having chances, although Pegasus had more of the possession, with half a dozen players all having a go. A nice flick from Jack Winfield was once again crossed in by Adam Rice allowing James Cerutti to smash it into the net on the volley also. The half time whistle blew with the score at 0-2, although it should have been much higher.

Pegasus started the second half in much more positive fashion and within minutes Adam Rice had scored one of his trademark goals to make it 0-3. Pegasus was playing much more strongly now and soon Tom Hopcroft’s persistence paid off, with a high lob – would it go into the goal? Yes! 0-4. Shortly afterwards, after a bit of tricky footwork and good close control, Adam Rice raised the score to 0-5 and, only two minutes later, Billy Warburton curled a lovely ball in from the edge of the area to make it 0-6. There were many more chances but only one more goal – following a lovely run down the field Adam Rice side footed coolly past the stranded keeper and into the net for his third goal and Pegasus’s seventh.
