Beeston Centurions (under 14) v Pegasus Blue (under 14) 15/1/11

It was only one week since Pegasus and Beeston had met at Pasture Road and, due to the condition of Beeston’s pitch, Pego were at home again for the return fixture.
The match was once again dominated by Pegasus, taking only 2 minutes to grab the opener, a long throw down the right, picked up by Warburton. He raced down the flank before cutting in and shooting from an acute angle, the keeper got a hand to it, but could do nothing to stop George Mole tapping into the empty net at the far post. Pegasus continued pressing forward and on 4, 5 and 9 minutes Cerutti, Gillard then Cerutti again both went close. On 11 minutes it was 2 – 0, a great individual goal by Billy Warburton, flicking on a throw in by Cerutti before collecting the ball himself, rounding several defenders then firing into the bottom right corner. Rice then had 2 chances, on 15 minutes fired wide , then 2 minutes later his blistering pace took him clear, but his side foot shot was well saved. On 18 minutes Pegasus had a let off, the visitors had the ball in the net, but the striker had wandered into an offside position. That only spurred the home team on, on 21 minutes a thumping drive by Lloyd-Jones cannoned off the bar from the edge of the box, then 2 minutes later 3 – 0, Jack Winfield was brought down on the edge of the box, he picked himself up, dusted himself down then promptly smashed the ball into the left hand corner of the goal. We had not even drawn breath when 3 became 4, Rice charged down a clearance, Winfield threaded the ball back to Adam Rice who passed the ball into the bottom corner.

Half time: Beeston Centurions 0 – Pegasus Blue 4

It took only 4 minutes of the second half to make the score 5 – 0. A right wing corner by Rice , fumbled by the visiting keeper and at full stretch forced home by Tom Hopcroft, who then limped off from the field of play with a hip injury. On 44 minutes 6 – 0, a good ball by Winfield finding George Mole, who once again finished confidently. On 52 minutes 7 – 0, Aaron Price collected the ball 25 yards out on the left, there didn’t look much on until he thumped an unstoppable shot into the top right corner. 4 minutes later 8 – 0, a free kick on the right by Rice to Billy Warburton who finished with aplomb. On 59 minutes 9 – 0, this time a free kick on the left by Jack Winfield, taking a slight deflection past the helpless keeper. On 66 minutes Pegasus moved into double figures, a good ball to Adam Rice, he turned the defender then finished emphatically. Right on full time Rice made it 11 – 0, and completed his hat-trick with another solo goal, played through again , he was pushed wide left , it looked as though the chance had gone, he then turned 180 degrees and curled the ball beautifully into the top right corner. Another satisfying performance by Pegasus Blue.
